How To Make Koko Alaisa (Chocolate Rice) Recipe

Wondering how to make Koko Alaisa (Cocoa Rice)? Let's start with what it is. Koko Alaisa is a heart warming dish and is considered a staple in Samoa, and in Samoan communities all over the globe. in essence it is chocolate rice, and is deliciously simple and yes, it is definitely comfort food territory. One of the best things about Samoa is some of the simple Samoan food that just tastes so darn good.

Many Samoans think fondly back to their childhoods where Koko Alaisa would be served at family gatherings. In fact, for Samoans reading this, you might almost be able to smell the scent of Koko and fresh bread in the pacific island air right now. Of course you're probably imagining taro leaves, corned beef and treats from freshly hand squeezed coconut milk.

For everyone else you’ll just have to ask a Samoan friend and watch had their eyes light up with the joys of childhood and delicious koko treats.

OR you could always just make some delicious Koko Alaisa yourself! We recommend authentic Samoan Cacao Paste (Koko) made from Samoan cacao beans for this dish, like the cacao sold right here at The Koko Samoa. Is it really that different? You bet! Samoan cacao is some of the rarest cacao in the world and prepared correctly, is dark, rich and extremely nutrient dense. Ready to be transported back to the islands of Samoa?
